Truly Inspiring! " A digital park bench"…

9 Jan

After watching this 10min mini documentary on”A Visual Life” on The Sartorialist, I was in complete aww! This is the most inspiring video I have watched in a long time! I assume you are all familiar with The Sartorialist, but if not, even more the reason to watch this mini film as you will soon never forget. Scott Schuman is a true visionary and we as in the blog world and fashion world alike are lucky to have him.  He compares his blog to “a digital park bench” from which you can visit daily and people watch, no matter where you are in the world.  For anyone who is creative and especially for anyone who is trying to create their own “digital park bench”, “A Visual Life” is a must see.  Do yourself a favor and take 10mins out of your day and get inspired! I promise, its worth it!

Now I just need to figure out how I can get on The Sartorialist?  A girl can dream, right?!… If like me you dream of being approached by Scott one day and not because he needs you to move out of his shot, then read below.  It just might land you a spot on The Sartorialist one day, you never know. 😉

Stop Motion: Every Color You Can Dream Of

27 Sep

I have become completely fascinated with stop motion animation lately, it seems to be everywhere these days….  {Oh Joy! did it here, kindle’s commercials here are adorable, Man Shop’s Globe used it for their promo here}

Above is the latest stop motion animation that I have come across that I had to share with all of you.  Its for a Target commercial in Australia and has me completely smitten!  The concept its “every color you can dream of”.  I hope you like it as much as I do.  I must go and get a good night sleep to prep for the week ahead.  I will be leaving for Mexico Tuesday morning (for work) and wont return till Sunday evening.  Sweet dream’s everyone!

A journey of a thousand miles
begins with a single step

Hide & Seek…

19 Sep

With all of the recent fashion week events and fashion shows I think we were all a little in the mood for a beautiful Spring day…at least for the duration of fashion week. Don’t worry I am by no means in a a rush to skip Fall and Winter. The fall season just so happens to be my favorite, but in the spirit of fashion week, I too found myself with a small case of spring fever.

Be sure to check out this lovely short film by one of my favorite designers, Cynthia Rowley. The film is titled Hide & Seek and features looks from her Spring 2010 collection.

Stay tuned for a look at my favs from the runway.

Stella McCartney for Net-a-porter: Poem

Stella McCartney for Net-a-porter: Magnolia Tree

Stella McCartney for Net-a-porter: Kites

Stella McCartney for Net-a-porter: Island

I absolutely fell in love with this videos and wanted to share them all with you. More designers should take this approach to grow their fan base. I think it makes them more original, more artistic and a little less mainstream. *swoon*

Cynthia Rowley- The Musical

11 May

Musical chairs that is….

When I first moved to NYC almost three years ago. My first job was working in Cynthia Rowley’s Design studio on Bleeker St. in the West Village. I know it sounds so glamorous… but actually I was the administrative assistant so the glamor part stopped basically as I turned the corner of the 2nd floor and walked up one more flight of stairs. There were good times and there sure were some bad ones, but honestly whenever I think back on my time there, I am so grateful. I got to work extremely close with one of my favorite designers, experience the design process, type up a few pages of her Slim Memoir, and participate in the holy grail that is known to the rest of the world as NY Fashion week. Not to mention my first couple of months in NYC were spent in the West Village enjoying all that it has to offer.

I will always continue to follow her career (click her for a peek into her sketch book) and hold a sense of pride at least for the fact that for a short time because of me things ran smoothly. =) I came across this video while visiting her site and absolutely fell in love, so I decided to share. Cynthia is an insanely creative individual, I only hope to be half as amazing as her one day.
